Dear
Parent and Guardian,
I would like to invite your child to participate in a Summer Reading Program. Participation will be easy and fun! I am asking all students to read a minimum of 6 books at their reading level throughout the summer.
After reading each book, your child will need to get on my blog website (http://throighmyeyes.blogspot.com/) and write a book review of the book. If you do not have access to the internet at home or the library give me a call. If you choose to call, parents need to talk with me first, then your child can give their book review.
At the end of the summer, we will meet at Scoop's for an ice cream reward for completing the Summer Reading Program. We will meet on Thursday, July 26 at 2:00 PM. Your treat is on ME! Transportation will be provided by parents.
I
am looking forward to seeing everyone at Scoop's to celebrate our
reading!
Sincerely,
Jessica Taylor

Dork Diaries Tales from a Not So Graceful Ice Princess
ReplyDeleteby Rachel Renee Russell
This book is about a girl, Nikki, who isn't popular and all the trouble she goes through in life. During the book Nikki has to deal with her little sister, Breanna, her mean parents, and a bully named McKenzie. This book taught me not to be mean and bully. It also taught me that even if you are not popular you can still have friends.
I didn't have a favorite part. I liked the whole book. I liked this book because I like the series. I've read all the Dork Diary books. I think others should read this because it is a good book.

You have peaked my interest. I am adding this series to my reading list. Keep reading!
DeleteThe Scrapbook of Frankie Pratt a Novel in Pictures
ReplyDeleteby Caroline Preston
This book is about Frankie Pratt who doesn't have a lot of money. She goes to college to get smart. Part of her dream is to become a writer. Her mom gives her a scrapbook and she finds a typewriter from her dead dad. She uses the scrapbook and typewriter to write about her life.
I liked this book because it was different. It looks like a scrapbook with words written on top the pictures. You see and read about her life. It was interesting to watch her go through her college life. After college she went on to find a job of writing for magazines.

Keep reading girl! I am looking forward to that ice cream and reading celebrations.

Our Presidents: James Buchanan
ReplyDeleteAuthor: Gerry and Janet Souter
This book is about James Buchanan our 15th president. This book is a biography. It told all about James Buchanan and his life. I thought it was interesting what James Buchanan what he did with the slaves. It was also interesting that Washington DC back in the 1820's looked like country and not a city.

Our Presidents: Rutherford B. Hayes
ReplyDeleteBy Sandra Francis
This book is a biography about Rutherford B. Hayes. He was our 19th president. I thought it was interesting that Hayes lost his parents when he was younger. He only had a sister left and was raised by an uncle. I think that is amazing that he was so strong and was able to become a president. I also thought it was funny that his nickname was Ruddi.

Looks like you have learned a lot about our presidents.

Our Presidents: Andrew Johnson
ReplyDeleteBy Judith E. Harper
This book is about our 17th president. He was the vice president for Abraham Lincoln. He become president when Lincoln was shot. He was not very popular by the Confederacy because was against slavery. He carried his own gun because his life was threatened. The House of Representatives tried to impeach him because he broke a law and fired one of his military men that were on his cabinet without getting permission from the Congress. He wasn't impeached, but didn't get reelected after his one term.

Our Presidents: George Bush
ReplyDeleteby Sandra Francis
This book is about our 41st president George Bush's life. He was our president and was his son. They had one president between them. I learned that when he was in college he got to met Babe Ruth at Yale. He served in WWII and did many dangerous missions. I also found a picture of the president with his wife. I had to ask my mom if this was his mom. I think she looks older than he does. My mom thought that was funny.
