Am I that old?

Do I really look that old? Today I got out my iPod to share music with my fifth and sixth graders.

A particularly funny student says, “I didn't think you knew what an iPod was. You are too old to know what we use....

My reply, “Do I look that old?”

As a class, “YES!!!”

Sad face from me.

Funny child with his hands in the air holding an imaginary object, “I thought you would be walking around with a BIG boombox on your shoulder.”

  1. Hilarious!!! Oh kids! I bet that made your day! We all need those moments to keep us laughing and to keep us on our toes. :)

  2. I think it's wonderful you have such rapport with your students that they feel free to joke with you. My son would be the one making a comment like that and I appreciate teachers who allow him to be himself. :)

  3. Ohhhh...but I remember the boombox days -- don't you?

Thanks for sharing this snippet from the day!

  4. Out of the mouths of babes! Perhaps you should bring in a record player or at least an 8 track player! I remember both of those. I had a Barbie record player that closed up like a suitcase. I remember listening to David Cassidy. Isn't it great to enjoy a funny moment with your class. Sense of humor is key to sanity.

  5. ha ha ha...I was feeling old today but none of my students said anything to me. I am surprised they knew about the boombox.

  6. If they think you are old, I guess I'm ancient! Ha...ha...ha! Don't you remember thinking how old all your teachers were? It goes with the territory. Thanks for sharing! You make me feel better! Happy Slicing! :)
